Whitby Network was established as an advice, self help and support agency for people in need. The Network was able to acquire a former cinema, the Coliseum in the heart of Whitby.

Now the activities of the Network have diversified. Based on the Coliseum, a hub of enterprise activities have grown up which include a furniture service, a cinema, a community arts development programme, a conference centre and a café.
